11 am   Following Kris’s talk, Meet The Bugs. Children (and adults) can explore, examine, touch & even hold some of the amazing bugs (Invertebrates) we have in our gardens.

The Hut Community Centre

The Hut Community Centre is located within the historic Aldgate Railway Station. From this unique space, we offer a range of services and programs that support and connect the Adelaide Hills community.

At the event look for:

  • Information table under the verandah out front drop by to say hello, meet the Hut volunteers. Curious about what goes on, have a look around inside and learn more about what we do.

  • Drop in Chi Kung with Lis - 20-minute sessions from 11am –1pm, perfect for a quick reset during your day.

  • Enjoy the outdoor play area for children with nature play, picnic rugs and child-led activities.

  • Kindness Rock painting on the old railway platform—a simple, creative activity for all ages.

Young Children’s Activity and Face Painter (ages 3yrs and upwards)

Children collect their instructions from the Children's tent alongside the Information and Raffle on the Middle Lawn.

Joe's Connected Gardens - plant Stall and Speaker

Brought to you by Hills Environment Centre

10.30 am    In the Speakers tent, Joe Kielnerowski will speak about 'Helping Gardeners adapt their methods, building healthy soil and choosing resilient plant selections to thrive.'
He will inspire you with his extensive knowledge of growing food and has extensive experience with growing and maintaining fruit trees is the South Australian climate. He is always experimenting with new varieties and methods and loves to share his knowledge. More about Joe here
 Joe's Stall has a selection of plants from the Joe's Connected Garden nursery for sale at affordable prices. These plant sales support the work of the famed 'Joe's Connected Garden' community gardens.

Jenny will help you lay out your garden for enjoyment with sound, practical advice and fun while you learn.
Located on Euston Rd outside the gardens.

Gardening Advice Presentation on the hour –11am, 12 noon, 1pm

Starting or changing your garden? … Find out the things that other people wish they knew early on, when establishing their gardens - and some tips for managing your garden for enjoyment!

Local urban horticulturist, Jenny, has spent years helping everyday people triage and tend their established but unruly gardens.

Jenny will present garden layout and care tips for everyday domestic-scale gardening, including:

  • Setting your garden up for sensible maintenance

  • Watering wisdom

  • Strategic weeding

  • Easing your garden into being an oasis (no expensive instant makeovers here!)

  • Gardening for your own pleasure
